Form and Report Navigation

All forms and reports use the same form of record or page navigation, if there is more than one record or page.  The navigation bar is located in the bottom left corner of the form or report window.

Forms—The icons, starting from left to right after the word “Record:” are:

  • First record in set (left arrow with vertical line to left)

  • Previous record in set (left arrow)

  • Number of records in the set

  • Next record in set (right arrow)

  • Last record in set (right arrow with vertical line to right)

  • Add record (right arrow with asterisk.  Note: the “add record” button is disabled in most forms)

  • Total number of records in set

When the user selects a different menu item, the current form closes and the new form opens.  However, the user may press the "x" button to close the form (when available).  The Welcome form may not be closed.  Normally, forms are seen in a maximized window.  These windows may "restore" at times.  Choosing another menu item re-maximizes open windows.

Reports—The navigation icons are identical except that they are pages, rather than records, and a total number of pages is not provided.

When a report opens, the "Reports Open" toolbar also opens along the left edge of the SMP window.  The user may close the report by pressing the "x" in the upper right-hand corner or by pressing the "Close" icon on the Reports Open toolbar.
