How to Configure Outlook

Follow these steps to configure your LACCOffice.org email account in Microsoft Outlook 2003 or XP (2002).  Note: The location of certain configurations may change with versions of Outlook.  If the exact instructions don't match the location of a certain menu or window, look in other locations based upon similar names.

Configuring Outlook:

  1. Open Outlook.
  2. Go to menu Tools
  3. Choose the option "Email Accounts"
  4. Choose the option "Add a New Email Account" (or View or Change existing e-mail accounts if the account already exists).
  5. If adding the account, choose POP3 as the account type.
  6. A window opens with a number of empty fields.  Enter the following information.
    1. User Information
      • Your Name: LACC MyCountry
      • Email Address: MyCountry@LACCOffice.org
      • Where "MyCountry" is the name of your country according to the country list below.
    2. Server Information:
      • Incoming mail server (POP3): mail.laccoffice.org
      • Outgoing mail server (SMTP): mail.laccoffice.org
    3. Logon Information:
  7. Click on the "More Settings" button
    1. Enter email address MyCountry@LACCOffice.org in the Mail Account box on the General tab.
    2. Click on the Outgoing Server tab.  Put a check mark in the box "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication."  By default the "use same settings as my incoming mail server" radio button is selected.
    3. Press OK.
  8. Next, verify your connection to the Internet and press the "Test Account Settings..." button.  A window appears that shows if the connection to the mail server succeeded or not.
